As the chronology takes players one step closer to Snezhnaya, HoYoverse has confirmed that the next major update for Genshin Impact, titled Version Luna VII: Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana, will be released on 20 May 2026. This update sees the narrative return to the region of Sumeru, where players will engage with a new Archon Quest as the nation of wisdom deals with an internal crisis.
The story follows the sudden and unexplained slumber of the Dendro Archon, Nahida, an event that leaves Sumeru in a state of instability. During the conflict, a new antagonist appears who bears a close resemblance to the previously defeated Il Dottore. To resolve the situation, the Traveler will work alongside allies including Collei, Ibis King Thoth, and Nicole.
Players who finish this chapter during the limited launch period can earn up to 560 Primogems and character ascension materials for Nicole. The update also introduces a new Weekly Boss that possesses the ability to summon various forces during combat. To streamline the player experience, HoYoverse is introducing Guiding Notes, a feature providing in-game story recaps. The update also includes refined quest autosave prompts to better support the narrative flow.
In what could very well be something groan inducing for free-to-play exclusive players, Version Luna VII is set to feature a total of three new playable characters. Nicole Reeyn is a five star Pyro Catalyst user and represents the first playable member of the Hexenzirkel. Characterized as a voiceless angel, her kit focuses on teamwide support. Her Elemental Skill provides an attack bonus and a shield for the party, while her Elemental Burst summons an Arcane Projection that performs coordinated attacks based on the active character’s element. For exploration, Nicole’s charged attack can call upon a Seelie to lead her toward treasure. This update also opens the interior of the Witch’s Lodge within the Witch’s Garden, which will serve as a hub for weekly stories and rewards.
Joining her is Lohen, a five star Cryo Polearm wielder and the Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius Fifth Company. His combat style revolves around managing two resources, Joy and Will to Win. By utilizing his Masterstroke state via his Elemental Skill, he can consume Joy to enhance his attacks, while Will to Win increases as his teammates fight. He is designed to synergize with Hexerei characters, and his personal Story Quest will delve into the history of the Knights of Favonius.
The final new addition is Prune, a four star Anemo Catalyst user who identifies as a Witch Hunter. She uses a combination of a bell and a hammer to deal damage across multiple elements and trigger Swirl reactions.
The Event Wishes for Version Luna VII will be divided into two halves. The initial phase features the debut of Nicole and Prune, alongside a rerun of Durin. The second phase will introduce Lohen and see the return of Mavuika.
Outside of the main story, the update features a limited time event called Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel. This event includes various mini-games featuring Qiqi, Yaoyao, Sayu, and Prune, with the Super Awesome Magic Key weapon appearance available as a reward. Additionally, a sports festival will take place in Miliastra Wonderland.
