Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Overwatch Season 2, titled Reign of Talon: Summit, is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 15 April 2026. For players in the Australian region, the update is expected to go live at approximately 4am AEST.
The update introduces Sierra, a new DPS hero whose background is tied to the Soldier Enhancement Program. Sierra enters the game equipped with a rifle and is accompanied by a combat drone named Dorothy. Her debut coincides with a three-week event called Operation: Grand Mesa. This event is set in the period following Sierra’s conflict with Talon and allows players to earn rewards while learning about her history and the significance of the location.
Overwatch is also expanding its availability with a launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. This native version of the game supports 60 FPS in both handheld and docked modes, while seeking to offer higher fidelity audio and improved visuals compared to the Nintendo Switch iteration.
Technical updates in Season 2 include a significant rework of the Antarctica map. The redesign focuses on improving staging areas and providing better layout clarity to facilitate smoother team pushes and engagements. Furthermore, the post-match experience has been updated with a new accolade system. Players can now vote for MVPs and highlight sportsmanship through a revised wrap-up sequence.
On the cosmetic front, the season introduces two new Mythic items. Soldier: 76 receives the Volted Overdrive Mythic hero skin, while Genji receives the Sumi-ichimonji Mythic weapon skin. Other seasonal additions include the Sakura Collection and a collaboration with LE SSERAFIM featuring Legendary skins. The Premium Battle Pass for the season will offer various cosmetics, tier skips, and Overwatch Coins.
