Lucky the fox has officially made the leap to current-generation hardware as PQube and Playful Studios launch New Super Lucky’s Tale for the PlayStation 5. The title is available today through both digital storefronts and physical retail editions, bringing the 3D platforming adventure to a new platform, with technical enhancements.
This updated version of the game targets higher performance capabilities of Sony’s newest generation of console, offering players the ability to run the game at up to 120 frames per second. Visuals have also been upgraded to 4K resolution, intended to highlight the bright and expressive art style of the various worlds Lucky visits. Furthermore, the release utilises the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, incorporating haptic feedback in hopes of making Lucky’s physical actions feel more immersive as he jumps, spins, and burrows his way through the environment.
The core gameplay and narrative remain consistent with the original experience. Players control Lucky as he travels through the Book of Ages, a magical artefact that serves as a gateway to numerous distinct worlds. The plot follows Lucky and his sister, Lyra, as they attempt to recover stolen pages from the villainous sorcerer Jinx and his mischievous henchmen, the Kitty Litter. The experience is designed as a traditional platformer filled with secrets, collectibles, and puzzles to solve.
For existing fans of the series, an upgrade path has been confirmed to ensure a smooth transition to the new hardware. Those who currently own the PlayStation 4 version of the game are eligible to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 edition at a reduced price.
