Publisher PQube and developer Wild Sheep Studio have announced Adorable Adventures, a narrative-driven exploration game scheduled for release in early 2026. The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A playable demo has been made available immediately on Steam for those wishing to sample the gameplay.
Set in the aftermath of a forest fire, the game places players in the role of Boris. He is a young boar separated from his family who must navigate the world to reunite with his siblings. The core gameplay loop focuses on olfactory senses. Boris navigates environments using his nose to identify scents. While initially overwhelmed by strong aromas like lavender or honeycomb, players will learn to filter these smells to track specific trails left by the lost family members.
Wild Sheep Studio is a twelve person team based in Montpellier, France. The studio was originally established in 2013 to develop the open world PlayStation exclusive WiLD. Following the cancellation of that project, the team restructured to focus on smaller independent titles such as 2024’s Maestro VR.
The setting of Adorable Adventures draws direct inspiration from the Cévennes National Park located near the studio’s headquarters. The developers have utilised 3D scans of local vegetation and ambient field recordings to recreate the atmosphere of the region’s forests and highlands.
Beyond the main narrative, the game includes various side activities. Players can participate in time trial races, photography challenges and tasks involving cleaning up the park. The story is guided by a fully voiced narrator, a park ranger named Maxime, who documents the journey in a journal that players can fill by collecting scents.
