Supermassive Games has confirmed that its upcoming sci-fi survival horror title, Directive 8020, is scheduled for release on 12 May 2026. The narrative-driven adventure will be available on PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, with pre-orders currently open across multiple platforms.
A new trailer titled Comply has been released to showcase the game’s focus on paranoia and high-stakes decision-making. The footage highlights a scenario involving the ship’s medic, Cooper, who must decide whether to trust a crewmate named Mitchell while he is trapped behind a sealed door. The gameplay demonstration also reveals a “Double” mechanic where players must identify a mimic among two identical versions of the ship’s engineer, Cernan. This entry in The Dark Pictures franchise will feature pilot Brianna Young, portrayed by Lashana Lynch, and marks the first time the series explores the alien environment of the planet Tau Ceti f.
A significant addition to the series’ mechanics is the introduction of Turning Points. This feature grants players the ability to rewind the story to revisit critical choices, catering to those who wish to explore alternative narrative branches or prevent the death of specific characters. For those seeking a more traditional experience, a Survivor Mode will be included which maintains permanent character deaths and removes the ability to rewind.

In addition to the single-player campaign, the game will launch with a five-player local couch co-op mode. While online multiplayer is planned, developers have indicated this will be delivered as a free update following the initial launch.
Those who pre-order the title on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, or through participating retailers will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition while stocks last. This version includes several digital bonuses such as a soundtrack, artbook, cinematic filters, and an outfit pack.
