Square Enix Announces Paranormasight Sequel And More During Nintendo Direct

The latest Nintendo Direct presentation served as a considerable launchpad for Square Enix, with the publisher confirming a sequel to their 2023 horror Paranormasight and the arrival of a major Final Fantasy title on new hardware.

Headlining the announcements was the reveal of Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse, which is set to launch on 19 February 2026. Developed by the same creative team behind The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, this second installment moves the series to a new setting while maintaining its Showa-era Japan aesthetic. The title is designed as a standalone experience focused on urban legends and occult folklore. To celebrate the announcement, the original game is currently available at a 75% discount on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices until 18 February 2026.

Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Xbox app on 3 June 2026. This version includes a “Streamlined Progression” toggle, which provides players with infinite health, magic, and gauges for those who prefer to focus on the narrative.

Pre-orders for the Xbox and PC versions include a 20% discount until 10 June 2026. Those opting for the physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition will receive a Zack Fair Magic: The Gathering card featuring artwork by Tetsuya Nomura, while supplies last. Furthermore, the existing versions of the game on PlayStation 5 and PC will see a permanent price reduction starting 9 February 2026, with the Standard Edition dropping to $49.99.

The presentation also showcased a fresh trailer for the action-RPG The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, confirming an 18 June 2026 release date. The game follows protagonists Elliot and Faie across four distinct ages, utilizing a combat system involving seven weapon types and customizable Magicite. The developers also noted that several adjustments have been made to the final game based on feedback from the current Nintendo Switch 2 demo, including increased movement speed and a refined shortcut menu.
