The independent development team behind Remnants of Yore, Team Yore, has announced that their cozy rogue-lite adventure title is scheduled to launch in Early Access on Steam on 22 March 2026. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game is also planned for future release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox consoles.
Players assume the role of Yore, a young cat wizard who discovers an abandoned antique store within a forgotten town. The core gameplay loop involves renovating this shop and rebuilding the surrounding town, alongside exploring a cursed forest inhabited by corrupted entities.
The narrative places a strong emphasis on player choice and relationships. The protagonist is written as pansexual, allowing players to romance any eligible townsfolk. The developers have stated that this design reflects their values regarding freedom of choice, including options for multiple partner relationships within the game.
Combat in Remnants of Yore is designed as a magic-only system centred on the protagonist’s tome. Players can utilise this book to cast projectiles or perform melee attacks against spirits. The developers have highlighted accessibility as a priority, implementing simple inputs and an adaptive difficulty level that adjusts to the player’s performance.
Visually, the game utilises a specific post-processing technique to render fully 3D environments as 2D pixel art, creating a 2.5D aesthetic. The soundtrack is being composed by Bon Music Vision, a production duo comprised of Yerosha Windrich and Elfed Alexander Morris. Their stated mission for the audio direction is to explore the perspective of the outsider and finding community on the fringes of the mainstream.
