Nerial and Devolver Digital have partnered with CD Projekt Red to release a new title in the Reigns franchise. Titled Reigns: The Witcher, the dark fantasy game is now available for players on PC and mobile devices.
The game sets out to adapt the familiar swipe left and right mechanics of the Reigns series to the Witcher universe. Players take on the role of monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, making decisions that impact his standing with different factions across the Continent, such as nobles, mages, and local villagers. The choices players make dictate the branching narrative and lead to thousands of potential story combinations.
Unlike previous entries in The Witcher series, the events of this game are framed through the perspective of the bard Dandelion. As Geralt’s long time companion, Dandelion narrates the adventure, often adding his own embellishments to the story. Throughout the game, players are tasked with expanding Dandelion’s repertoire of songs by performing across different locations to build his musical legacy.
Alongside the core narrative choices, Reigns: The Witcher includes combat minigames where Geralt faces off against familiar franchise monsters, including drowners and rotfiends. The title also features appearances from several established characters from the series, with Yennefer, Triss, and Vesemir all crossing paths with the player during the campaign.
