Following the recent Resident Evil Showcase, new information regarding the upcoming title Resident Evil Requiem has been released. The presentation provided a deeper look at the gameplay loops for the dual protagonists, plot details regarding the narrative, and a suite of merchandise collaborations ahead of the game’s worldwide launch on 27 February 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem features two protagonists, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and returning DSO agent Leon Kennedy. Players will have the ability to swap between first-person and third-person perspectives at any point during gameplay to suit their preference for immersion or action. The narrative centers around the keyword “Elpis,” which reportedly connects the death of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, to Grace’s personal history and Leon’s current mission. Players will need to investigate these connections to uncover the truth behind the events of the game.
The two characters are set to offer distinct gameplay styles. Leon Kennedy’s sections focus on his experience with firearms and hand-to-hand combat while investigating a series of suspicious deaths. His combat capabilities include wielding various weapons, parrying enemy attacks, and utilizing a new hatchet for close-quarters manoeuvres. The showcase also demonstrated Leon’s ability to use enemy weapons, such as chainsaws, against opponents and perform finishing moves.
Alternatively, Grace Ashcroft’s scenario begins in a zombie-overrun sanatorium and leans heavily into survival horror elements. Her gameplay emphasizes resource management, limited carrying capacity, and avoiding combat when necessary. Grace utilizes a device to craft items using infected blood and wields a custom weapon known as the Requiem assault revolver. Due to limited ammunition, this high-power weapon is positioned as a last resort.
The showcase also detailed specific enemy behaviours. Zombies in Requiem retain fixations on their pre-infection lives, such as a chef mimicking cooking actions or a janitor polishing mirrors. Different difficulty settings were outlined during the presentation. A Casual mode offers aim assist and higher player health. Alternatively, the Standard Classic mode increases tension by requiring Ink Ribbons for saving progress during Grace’s sections, placing a higher demand on resource strategy.
Two major commercial collaborations were announced alongside the gameplay reveal. Watchmaker Hamilton has designed two limited-edition timepieces replicating those worn by the characters in-game: the Khaki Field Auto Chrono (Leon) and the Pan Europ Automatic (Grace). These watches are limited to 2,000 units globally and will be available for purchase on the game’s launch date, 27 February 2026. Additionally, a partnership with Porsche was revealed. This collaboration involves a custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, modified via 3D printing technology to fit the game’s aesthetic. This vehicle will appear in-game as Leon Kennedy’s primary mode of transport.
In terms of physical collectibles, 1/6 scale figures of both Grace and Leon are set for release this fall. These figures are designed to be displayed individually or combined as a set and are compatible with figures from previous Collector’s Editions. Nintendo users will see specific hardware releases, with a special edition Resident Evil Requiem Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller launching on release day. It features a gunmetal-inspired black design. Furthermore, Grace will become the first character from the franchise to receive an amiibo figure, which is scheduled for release in Summer 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem is set for release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC starting 27 February 2026.
