Playful Studios and PQube have confirmed their 3D platforming adventure New Super Lucky’s Tale is scheduled to arrive on the PlayStation 5 later this year – following its previous releases on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC the following year. The release is confirmed for 26 March 2026 and will bring the title to the current generation console with a suite of performance and visual updates.
New Super Lucky’s Tale follows the protagonist, Lucky, on a journey through the Book of Ages. The narrative centres on recovering missing pages of this magical artefact from the sorcerer Jinx and his subordinates, the Kitty Litter. The gameplay loop features a mix of expansive 3D hubs, story-driven levels, 2D side-scrolling sections, and various mini-games and puzzles.
Players picking up this new version should expect 4K visuals and frame rates of up to 120fps. Beyond the graphical updates, the release integrates functionality specific to the DualSense controller. These features are designed to provide haptic feedback corresponding to in-game actions, such as jumping, burrowing, and tail-swiping ie. the stock standard for many games on the PlayStation 5 nowadays.
A specific upgrade path has been outlined for those who already own the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Rather than a free update, existing owners can upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for a fee of £3.99, €4.99, or $4.99. Furthermore, for collectors and those who prefer physical media, a retail disc edition will be available alongside the digital launch.
