Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has officially released Code Vein II into Early Access. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, this sequel to the 2019 action RPG is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam for those who own the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions. Players who have pre-ordered or plan to purchase the Standard Edition will be able to access the game starting 30 January 2026.
Code Vein II places players in the role of the Revenant Hunter in a future where the remaining humans and Revenants face a world on the brink of collapse. The storyline centers on preventing a cataclysmic event known as the Resurgence. To achieve this, the protagonist must wield time as a weapon, traversing through past and present versions of the game’s environments to rewrite history. Joining the player is Lou MagMell, a Revenant girl who revives the protagonist and possesses the ability to travel through time.
Gameplay in Code Vein II retains the core mechanic of draining blood from enemies to unlock skills, alongside the use of Blood codes for combat strategy, and “Jails” which serve as unique weapons and equipment. This instalment also offers a new Partner System that allows players to switch between two forms of combat. This system adds new mechanical elements including a Link Points gauge, Link Traits, and Partner Trait Bonuses. Additionally, the Restorative Offering mechanic allows partners to restore health to the Revenant Hunter if they fall in battle.
Character customisation returns with a wide range of settings for the protagonist. Players can adjust body type, hairstyles, facial expressions, accessories, and makeup. The game also features specific locations, such as hot springs, where players can view their character in various lighting environments. A Photo Mode is also included to capture and save images of these creations.
