Final Fantasy XIV to Conclude Year With Patch 7.4

Square Enix has outlined the first details for Final Fantasy XIV Online Patch 7.4, titled Into the Mist, confirming a release which is planned to go live on all servers starting Tuesday, 16 December 2025. The news was shared during the 89th Letter from the Producer LIVE, which also previewed features planned for the wider 7.4x series.

Across the patch cycle, players can expect new Main Scenario Quests, fresh instanced content, updates to existing systems, and a range of quality of life improvements. An archive of the broadcast with Japanese audio only is now available on Twitch.

Arguably, one of the most substantial additions in update is an overhaul of the glamour system where, while weapons will still be gated for animation reasons, all attire wearable by characters will no longer be locked behind level, class and job restrictions. So if you have a mage glamour that you think would suit your warrior… come 16 December you will be able to make it happen.

Below are the features Square Enix has confirmed for Patch 7.4 and beyond in the 7.4x series:

  • New Main Scenario Quests
  • New Dungeon: Mistwake
  • New Trial: Hell on Rails, with Normal and Extreme modes
  • New Raid Tier: The Arcadion Heavyweight, with Normal and Savage modes
    • Note: Savage difficulty is scheduled for Tuesday, January 6, 2026
  • New Variant Dungeon: Merchant’s Tale, designed for multiple play styles and difficulty options
  • New Unreal Trial: Tsukuyomi’s Pain, a level 100 encounter against Tsukuyomi
  • Duty Support Additions: Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale
  • Occult Crescent Update: three new Phantom Jobs, Mystic Knight, Dancer, and Gladiator, plus new accessories with set bonuses
  • Phantom Weapon Updates
  • Cosmic Exploration: new planet Oizys for crafters and gatherers, with new rewards and system updates
  • Further Cosmic Tool Enhancement
  • Glamour System Updates: removal of level, class, and job restrictions on gear appearances for glamour purposes
    • Note: due to animation constraints, weapons and tools remain limited to their corresponding class
  • PvP Updates: start of PvP Series 10, action adjustments, and a new Frontline map, Worqor Chirteh
  • Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures
  • Miscellaneous Updates: Gold Saucer additions, new UI color themes Clear White and Clear Green, Strategy Panel UI, a new Quick Panel UI, and more

Square Enix also reiterated that the 7.4x series will include additional updates across PvP, Gold Saucer, the Duty Support system, Occult Crescent, and Cosmic Exploration.
