SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio used their RGG Summit 2025 livestream to unveil Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a two-in-one release that pairs a full remake of Yakuza 3 with a new standalone story starring antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. The collection is due to release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 from 12 February 2026.
Positioned as a 20th anniversary celebration release for the Like a Dragon and Yakuza series, Yakuza Kiwami 3 retells Kazuma Kiryu’s Okinawa chapter with new cutscenes and side content set across Okinawa and Kamurocho. Combat now supports two switchable styles. Dragon of Dojima: Kiwami focuses on heavy, dominant brawling with what is described as the largest pool of techniques in the series, while the new Ryukyu Style draws on traditional Okinawan weapon arts for technical, weapon based combos using eight weapon types. A separate team battle mode titled Legendary Baddie, Bad Boy Dragon tasks players with building a biker gang and fighting alongside the Ryukyu Gal Gang to protect Okinawa’s streets.
Dark Ties operates as a prequel that follows Mine before the events of Yakuza 3. Players take on a boxing centric move set, trigger a Dark Awakening state for ruthless combo strings, explore Kamurocho from Mine’s perspective, and test themselves in Hell’s Arena. The arena offers rules based bouts, including a Survival Hell dungeon that throws waves of hunters at the player on the way to the finish.
SEGA also detailed other anniversary beats. Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut arrives on PlayStation 5 from 8 December, complementing its Nintendo Switch 2 version, and a Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary Edition will be available the same day with Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. RGG Studio additionally shared a brief behind the scenes look at Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, and its next project, Stranger Than Heaven. You can see all them in the video below.
