Necrosoft Games and Ysbryd Games have announced that Demonschool, their school-life tactics RPG influenced by Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Italian horror cinema, and Japanese horror manga, will release on 3 September 2025. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with support for English, French, Spanish, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
Demonschool follows Faye, a college freshman from a family of demon hunters, who finds that monsters once confined to ancient texts are now roaming the grounds of her island university. Players will guide her through a semester filled with friendship-building, relationship-forging, and strategic battles against grotesque enemies, from crawling abominations to towering skeletons and surreal bosses.
Combat unfolds on a chess-like grid where movement doubles as action. Players can assemble a battle party from 15 playable characters, experimenting with hundreds of combinations – whether leaning into Faye’s powerful kicks, Namako’s debilitating debuffs, or Destin’s knockback attacks. Training sessions and side quests outside of class hours improve skills, while strengthening bonds between characters unlocks powerful combo attacks.
Demonschool blends 2D and 3D visuals to create a distinct style akin to a modern-day Persona 1/2 style, with battles split into two phases: a Planning phase, where players can adjust strategies with unlimited rewinds, and an Action phase, where all moves play out simultaneously.
