The world of Tamagotchi returns to consoles, with Tamagotchi Plaza officially launching on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms courtesy of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. A spiritual successor to the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop series, this new release offers players a colourful array of mini-games and charming shopkeeping experiences designed around the iconic digital pets.
In Tamagotchi Plaza, players are tasked with helping Prince Tamahiko revitalise Tamahiko Town in time for an upcoming festival. This is achieved by opening and upgrading shops, completing mini-games, and providing services to over 100 different Tamagotchi characters. From afternoon tea parlours to personal gyms and eyewear boutiques, each shop offers its own blend of unique visuals and gameplay mechanics that will feel familiar to long-time fans while introducing a few new twists.
Those playing on the Nintendo Switch 2 will find three additional shops exclusive to that platform, taking advantage of the system’s mouse control functionality. For players who already own the original Switch version, these extra features can be unlocked via the Tamagotchi Plaza Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade pack.
Adding another layer of interactivity, both versions of the game are compatible with the Tamagotchi Uni device. By connecting the physical toy with the game, players can obtain exclusive in-game items to further customise their plaza experience.
