Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have announced a major update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, introducing third-person gameplay and a New Game+ mode. Set to launch on 6 December 2025, the update responds directly to fan feedback and delivers two of what they claim are the most frequently requested features.
The addition of a third-person mode allows players to step back and experience Pandora from a fresh perspective, allowing players to explore the world while looking at their character doing so. Whether exploring the world, engaging in combat, or soaring across the skies, the new camera angle offers a broader sense of scale and immersion. According to the developers, the feature has been carefully integrated, with overhauled animations, reworked controls, and refined camera systems to ensure a natural and fluid experience.
Also arriving in the same update is New Game+, which aims to offer a new level of replayability. Players can restart the story while retaining their inventory, gear, and skills – now facing tougher enemies and unlocking a new skill tree along with enhanced equipment options.
This follows smaller-scale quality of life updates introduced in earlier patches, such as a more robust Hunter’s Guide, a smoother 40 FPS performance option, and refinements to combat balance.
To mark the upcoming update, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is currently on sale for a limited time across select platforms. The update’s launch also comes just ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to release on 20 December 2025 in cinemas.
