SEGA has announced a collaboration with Nickelodeon for its upcoming kart racing title Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The reveal took place during the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and marks the beginning of a potential broader partnership between the two brands.
The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer featuring characters from SpongeBob SquarePants racing alongside Sonic and other familiar faces from the SEGA universe. The trailer also provided a first look at a SpongeBob-themed vehicle and race track, alongside teasers for future content inspired by the Avatar franchise and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
This crossover content will be part of the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass, which also includes previously announced additions such as Minecraft-themed racers and tracks, characters from Sonic Prime, and two unannounced collaborations still to come.
While the Season Pass delivers themed content from outside the Sonic franchise, SEGA also confirmed that a wide selection of guest and legacy characters will be made available to all players at no extra cost through post-launch updates. These will include additions from other SEGA properties such as Joker (Persona), Kasuga Ichiban (Yakuza: Like a Dragon), and vocaloid icon Hatsune Miku.
