Indie studio Brain Seal has rolled out the first public demo for its next dungeon-crawling outing, Dark Quest 4. While the demo is going to be available exclusively via Steam for PC, the final release will also be available on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms later this year. The demo provides roughly 30 minutes of hands-on time.
Taking cues from classic tabletop adventures such as Hero Quest and Dungeon Saga, Dark Quest 4 invites players to assemble a party of heroes and venture into hand-crafted, turn-based quests overseen by a fully voiced dungeon master. The demo opens in the hero camp, where players can upgrade characters before delving into danger. From there, it offers a tutorial, access to two shops for weapons and magical items, and three missions designed to showcase the game’s core systems of movement, combat and progression.
Explaining the intent behind the trial, game director Argi Baltzi said the team wanted players to experience the essence of the adventure before release.
We wanted the demo to give players a real feel for the heart of the game — the choices, the characters, and the sense of mystery that grows with each quest,” Baltzi commented. “It’s a world shaped by imagination, but rooted in tactics and this demo is just the beginning.
