Copycat, a narrative-driven game exploring themes of love, loss, and identity from a cat’s perspective, is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The game is priced at $14.99 USD or local equivalent.
Developed by the Australian-Ukrainian team Spoonful of Wonder, led by Samantha Cable and Kostia Liakhov, Copycat follows the journey of a newly adopted shelter cat named Dawn. After being replaced by a stray lookalike, Dawn must navigate a world of backyards, alleys, and rooftops in an effort to return home and reunite with Olive. The story raises questions about belonging and identity, encouraging players to reflect on the meaning of home.
The game features colourful visuals, fully voiced dialogue, and a three-act narrative accompanied by an original score composed by Daniel Bunting. Players experience the world through Dawn’s eyes, exploring a variety of Australian-inspired environments while guided by narration styled after a nature documentary.
Key features of Copycat include a heartfelt story that explores philosophical themes surrounding home and belonging, accompanied by nature documentary-style narration throughout the player’s journey. The game offers intuitive cat-like controls that allow players to explore, cause mischief, and interact with the environment. It also features a fully voice-acted cast and a diverse musical score, all set within atmospheric locations within Australia such as family homes, sunlit backyards, and national parks.
