While I was one day expecting to do a final article on this game, expecting to share word that it had been cancelled, today we have learnt that isn’t the case! Capcom has confirmed that its long-in-development sci-fi action-adventure title Pragmata is still very much in the works, with a release now scheduled for 2026. The announcement came during the latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast, where a new trailer for the game – titled First Contact – was unveiled, offering a deeper look into its setting, characters, and gameplay.
Pragmata is set in a speculative near-future, transporting players to the moon, where an unexpected meeting aboard a seemingly derelict lunar research station sets the narrative in motion. The story follows spacefarer Hugh and the android Diana as they find themselves pursued by a hostile artificial intelligence that has taken control of the facility. Isolated and under threat, the pair must work together to survive and find a way back to Earth.
The game introduces an rarely explored gameplay mechanic for a single-player experience – players will simultaneously control both Hugh and Diana rather than switching between them. This dual-character dynamic is designed to encourage players to use each character’s unique skills in tandem, particularly during combat scenarios. One of the central gameplay elements, Hacking, will play a key role in battles – with more undoubtedly to be shared about it in the future, as it is used to go up against the duo’s AI foes.
Pragmata will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and will support full voice localisation in multiple languages including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean. Subtitles will also be available in Polish, Arabic, and Simplified Chinese.
