A new episode of WoWCast has premiered on the official World of Warcraft YouTube channel, offering a look at the upcoming 11.2 content update for The War Within, titled Ghosts of K’aresh. Hosted by Community Manager Bethany Stout, the discussion featured insights from Assistant Lead Quest Designer Stephanie Yoon and Lead Encounter Designer Andrew De Sousa.
One of the key additions is a brand new zone, dubbed K’aresh, a fragmented world made up of multiple shattered islands. Once home to a thriving civilisation, the Ethereals have worked to preserve remnants of their culture amidst the destruction. Players will also find a new hub in the region: Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, a returning locale from Shadowlands, now functioning as both a player hub and a Mythic+ dungeon.
Also introduced is a new upgradeable gear item: the Reshii Wraps, an artifact cloak that will be essential for navigating K’aresh and its unique mechanics. This cloak allows players to assume an energy-based form to experience the environment from the perspective of the Ethereals, and is tied into elements of both exploration and progression.
Season 3 of The War Within will include a range of new content:
- Raid: Manaforge: Omega – An eight-boss raid where players will face off against forces trying to resurrect Dimensius. While the resurrection succeeds, it leads into a dramatic late-raid encounter.
- Dungeon: Eco-Dome Al’dani – A three-boss instance featuring Wastelanders who have infiltrated a secret eco-dome.
- Delve: Archival Assault – A return to the Azure Vault in the Dragon Isles, offering further lore exploration and rewards.
Additionally, Blizzard has launched the 11.1.7 content update Legacy of Arathor, which is now live. This update follows Faerin Lothar as she ventures from the depths of Hallowfall to reconnect with her Arathi roots. Legacy of Arathor includes several new systems and events, including:
Lorewalking System – Designed to connect players with World of Warcraft’s extensive narrative history, Lorewalking features curated questlines focused on key characters and stories. The first instalment will spotlight Xal’atath, the Ethereals, and Arthas.
Delve Affix: Overcharged – Players can now engage with a new affix that introduces challenging Titan constructs and offers escalating rewards.
New Gear: D.I.S.C. Belt – The Durable Information Securing Container belt can be upgraded over time and is designed to offer substantial benefits leading into Season 3.
User Interface Updates – New tools include Assisted Highlight, which suggests optimal next abilities based on gameplay context, and Single-Button Assist, allowing for streamlined ability sequences with a single input.
Turbulent Timeways – This event sees dungeons from Battle for Azeroth permanently added to the Timewalking rotation. Players can earn the Chrono Corsair mount by completing the Master of the Turbulent Timeways III achievement.
