For many of my generation, Persona 4 on the PlayStation 2 would have been the main jumping-on point for the Persona franchise. While both Persona 3 and Persona 5 has received some love in recent years, this instalment has not seen its base game experience touched since the PlayStation Vita era with Persona 4 Golden. This has all changed today, however. Unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, ATLUS has announced Persona 4 Revival, a modern reimagining of its beloved RPG first released in 2008. The title is in development for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Xbox), PlayStation 5, and Steam.
The announcement was accompanied by a debut trailer, providing a first look at the updated visuals and reimagined world of Inaba. Players once again step into the shoes of a transfer student, embarking on a year filled with friendship, mystery, and supernatural intrigue. As unsettling rumours of murders and a strange television channel begin to spread, players are drawn into an alternate realm, awakening their Persona abilities and joining allies to uncover the truth behind the phenomena.

There has been conversations in recent weeks about the game, and that series mainstays including Yuri Lowenthal (Yosuke) and Amanda Winn Lee (Yukiko) who have stuck with the series from day one in all its iterations have not been asked to reprise their character roles. It is currently unknown whether ATLUS West is going down the Persona 3 Reload route and starting a new generation with a new English voice cast, or perhaps the game is still in early development and cast details haven’t been locked in as of writing. Time will tell, although given the love Persona 4 has received over the years, it would be challenging to envision someone else voicing their characters at least.
Kazuhisa Wada, Director at ATLUS’ internal P-STUDIO, shared a message with fans following the game’s announcement. In his statement, he reflected on the legacy of Persona 4 and expressed excitement for what’s to come:
Hello, this is Wada from P-STUDIO.
