HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero will roll out its Version 2.0 update, titled Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn, on 6 June 2025. This major content update not only signals the start of the game’s second season, but also marks its full debut on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Proxies will venture into Waifei Peninsula, a previously unexplored district of New Eridu. Led by the enigmatic Yixuan of Yunkui Summit, players will delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding Phaethon and explore an expanded Hollow environment enriched with new mechanics and threats. The district’s capital, Failume Heights, offers more than combat, with new locales such as tea houses and dessert stalls adding texture to the setting. Players will also oversee the Suibian Temple, a new simulation feature allowing management of facilities, dispatching of Bangboos, and resource collection for in-game progression.
The Hollow encounters have evolved as well. Miasmic Fields add a new layer of difficulty, empowering enemies with enhanced shields and abilities. To face these challenges, several new characters are joining the roster. Yixuan enters the field as an S-Rank Agent, capable of ignoring enemy defence and using an alternate combat resource known as Adrenaline. Also joining is Ju Fufu, a fire-based S-Rank Agent whose mechanics centre around building Might and Momentum to unleash high-damage team boosts. Additional support comes from Pan Yinhu, a panda-themed A-Rank Agent specialising in physical defence, and Belion, an S-Rank Bangboo. Returning favourites Astra Yao and Caesar also appear in upcoming banners.
In terms of gameplay updates, Version 2.0 adds the ability to equip multiple Gears across Agents and brings new commissions to the Hollow Zero: Lost Void feature. The cinema in Lumina Square will be open for the Gravitational Attraction event, allowing players to unlock new rewards through character interactions. The Soul of Steel: Golden Bond event will let players pilot mechs in Hollow battles, with rewards on offer for completing a series of challenges.
The user interface is also seeing upgrades, including a new 3D map, refined navigation tools, and Fissure Beacons that allow for quick healing, teleportation, and revival during exploration. Players who have cleared Season 1 Chapter 2 Interlude will be able to jump directly into the new season’s storyline.
To celebrate the game’s first anniversary, HoYoverse is giving players a selection of rewards: a free S-Rank Agent, a free S-Rank W-Engine, 1,600 Polychromes, 20 Encrypted Master Tapes, and exclusive cosmetics such as outfits, a title, and an avatar. Additional event-linked bonuses like Boopons and the Reel Projector W-Engine can also be earned.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 will be available across PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, Android, and, for the first time, Xbox. An Xbox Starter Pack is already available for pre-order through the Xbox Store.
