Closely following the recent confirmation that Persona 5: The Phantom X will be releasing in Japan in the near future, with a release date announcement planned for later today (live stream link below), ATLUS West has also shared an indication via their social media channels that the game will be coming to international markets at the same time. This was announced by sharing the image to the left.
Persona 5: The Phantom X is a new spin-off of ATLUS’ JRPG Persona 5, developed by China’s Black Wings Game Studio in collaboration with ATLUS’ P-Studio. Officially authorised by SEGA, the game extends Persona 5’s universe through an original story and characters set in a parallel version of the original game’s world. The game was initially rolled out to select regions, including China on PC, iOS and Android, although at least until now, no plans have been officially announced for Western markets.
Set in modern-day Tokyo, The Phantom X follows a new band of covert vigilantes known as Phantom Thieves – ordinary high-school students who awaken to supernatural “Persona” powers. The player assumes the role of a second-year student, different from the console games, who, with the assistance of Igor, a new Velvet Room attendant and a talking owl companion, undertakes their own adventure in the Metaverse.
More information is expected to follow soon.
