Following the game’s previous Nintendo Switch exclusive release, Italian developer Caracal Games and publisher Dear Villagers have announced that Star Overdrive, their high-speed open-world action game, will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 19 June 2025.
Pre-orders are now open for all platforms. Players can choose between a standard edition priced at $34.99 USD and a Deluxe Edition for $39.99 USD. The Deluxe Edition includes additional cosmetic content for the in-game hoverboard—three styles, one design, and 50 dyes—as well as the digital original soundtrack and a digital manga. The manga, created by the Caracal Games team, serves as a prequel to the main game’s story.
As development continues, Caracal Games is also aiming to focus on player feedback, with plans to to roll out patches and improvements for the Nintendo Switch version while ensuring that updates are reflected in the upcoming releases for other platforms.
Set in an alien world, Star Overdrive allows players to explore vast landscapes on a hoverboard, combining speed, agility, and combat in a physics-driven environment. The game features four distinct biomes, each filled with secrets, puzzles, and formidable enemies. Combat includes both small skirmishes and large-scale encounters with towering bosses, requiring a mix of reflexes and strategic thinking.
