Ubisoft Take Players to 16th Century Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has today launched Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The game is now available on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Macs with Apple silicon via the Mac App Store, and Windows PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is also verified for play on the Steam Deck.

Developed by Ubisoft Québec, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes players to 16th-century Japan. The game follows the intertwined stories of Naoe, a skilled shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the legendary samurai. Players will experience their unique gameplay styles while engaging with historical figures and shaping Japan’s path toward unification.

As the first open-world RPG installment since Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is built exclusively for new-generation platforms. Developed using the ANVIL engine, the game seeks to provide players with enhanced immersion through dynamic seasonal weather, real-time lighting and shadows, destructible environments, and detailed landscapes.

The standard edition of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available for $109.95 AUD on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while the PC and Mac versions are priced at $99.99 AUD.

Here’s hoping that Ubisoft will continue the development of their Discovery Tour series as well, providing an educational look at the 16th Century Japan world they have built out over the past couple of years.
