The latest video game release in the monolithic Bleach multimedia franchise, Bandai Namco Entertainment has today brought BLEACH Rebirth of Souls onto store shelves. This is a new action game based on the long-running anime and manga series, and is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Developed with direct involvement from Bleach creator Tite Kubo, BLEACH Rebirth of Souls features an original story as well as content drawn from the main arcs of the anime. Players can revisit key events from Ichigo Kurosaki’s early days as a Soul Reaper in the Substitute Soul Reaper Arc through to the confrontation with Sosuke Aizen in the Arrancar Arc via the game’s Story Mode.
The game aims to offer players a range of modes including Free Match, which allows players to battle online, and Versus Mode, which supports local multiplayer and offline matches against CPU-controlled opponents. A separate Secret Story Mode provides additional narrative content, exploring character backstories and events that shaped their development.
BLEACH Rebirth of Souls launches with over 30 playable characters. Each fighter is designed to reflect their unique abilities from the anime, with gameplay mechanics that allow players to build and execute special moves. Characters can enter an “Awakened” state — including transformations such as “Bankai” — by accumulating spiritual energy or through other in-game conditions such as the Reverse Gauge system.
