Following the recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Q-Games announced Dreams of Another, a third-person exploration-action game – and the latest in the Pixeljunk series – launching in 2025 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2. Built around the theme of “no creation without destruction,” the game reimagines traditional shooter mechanics by allowing players to materialize the world around them through their actions. Using point cloud technology, the environments exist in an impressionistic dreamscape, where shooting at scattered particles brings objects to life, creating new pathways and interactions.
The narrative follows two characters, The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldier, as they navigate a surreal world filled with sentient objects such as talking trees and doors. As players explore, they will uncover emotions, secrets, and mysteries, gradually piecing together the larger story. Creative Director Baiyon, who also composed the soundtrack, blends synthesizers, field recordings, and unconventional sounds to heighten the dreamlike atmosphere and immerse players in this abstract reality.
Dreams of Another aims to take full advantage of PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, offering higher-resolution visuals and smoother animations, in addition to PlayStation VR2 support, hopefully providing a fully immersive 360-degree experience.
