The Games [4Diversity] Showcase is set to take place on 18 March 2025 at 200 Channels, San Francisco, during the Game Developers Conference (GDC). Organised by Dr. Menno Deen, chairman of Stichting Games [4Diversity], this event seeks to highlight game developers who explore diversity, inclusivity, and underrepresented voices in the gaming industry.
The showcase will feature ten games that present a range of perspectives, social themes, and experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with developers, experience their work firsthand, and connect with industry professionals.
Among the games featured are:
- Wheely Late – A wheelchair-racing game highlighting mobility challenges.
- SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato – A title showcasing Latin American talent.
- Songs of Travel – A game inspired by real-life migration stories.
- Forgotten – A narrative-driven experience depicting dementia through the eyes of an elderly woman.
- Detective Dotson – A cultural exploration of modern India.
- All Systems Dance – A game that addresses body dysmorphia.
Dr. Menno Deen emphasised the importance of games as a storytelling medium, stating:
We believe in the power of games to tell meaningful stories, challenge perspectives, and promote representation. This showcase is about highlighting voices that often go unheard and creating a space where developers from diverse backgrounds can show why their unique perspectives make for great games.
The event welcomes game developers, publishers, investors, and supporters of diversity in gaming. Tickets are available for €10, including a complimentary welcome drink. More details can be found at the Courage Events website for the event.
