While modding has been possible in the game previously, Warner Bros. Games has announced that official mod support will be offered for Hogwarts Legacy on the PC starting 30 January 2025. Players on Steam and the Epic Games Store will be able to download the latest game update to access and install mods directly from the main menu. For those interested in creating their own mods, the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit will be available as a free download via the Epic Games Store.
Mods for the game will be managed and moderated through CurseForge, with the tools offered enabling users to design new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins. Mods can then be submitted through CurseForge for integration into the game.
Avalanche Software, the developer behind Hogwarts Legacy, has released a video (to the left) detailing the modding system and highlighting some of the mods that will be available at launch. Among these is the “Dungeon of Doom” mod, which introduces a combat-filled dungeon with hidden secrets. Other showcased mods include broom replacements, expanded character creation options, and new outfit customisations.
To access official Hogwarts Legacy mods, players must have a Steam or Epic Games Store account linked to their Warner Bros. Games account. Links to relevant accounts can be established ahead of the update’s release.
While there has long been discussions about a potential sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, at the very least – this modding support will hopefully keep the open-world game fresh through an active development community for a long time to come.
