Independent game developer Dreams Uncorporated has announced their upcoming single-player JRPG style experience, Prisma, as part of the Latin American Games Showcase. Scheduled for a 2026 release on PC and consoles, with a Kickstarter campaign planned for 2025, Prisma introduces players to a turn-based adventure where their choices and perspectives shape the story.
The game follows Alma, a journalist armed with her trusty camera, as she embarks on a journey to uncover truths. Transported to the mystical world of Domacon by a magical Prism Shard, Alma encounters alternate versions of herself from different universes. These alternate Almas may become allies or adversaries, each with their own agendas, as players strive to build a party, strengthen bonds, and find a way home.
Set in a Latin American-inspired world infused with magical realism, Domacon is populated by unusual characters, talking animals, and Almas integrated into its society. Using her camera, Alma interacts with her surroundings to uncover hidden truths, forge alliances, and gather additional Prism Shards. Player choices influence Alma’s relationships and the challenges she faces.
Players will form parties with different Almas, each offering unique skills and perspectives. Decisions strengthen bonds, unlocking exclusive dialogue, combo moves, story branches, and side quests. Rivals, including other Almas with conflicting goals, and enemies inspired by Latin American folklore, present ongoing challenges. Alma’s camera serves as a central mechanic in combat, where changing lenses alters her perspective and attack options. The Prism Shards enable character progression, enhancing skills and unlocking new abilities.
In a statement, Carlos Rocha, CEO of Dreams Uncorporated, elaborates on the game’s core concept:
We wanted to play with perspective and the idea that truth is in the eye of the beholder, so we created Alma, a journalist who carries her camera everywhere. She finds herself in a world where there are multiple versions of herself, with different outlooks and goals. The choices she makes–and does not make–create her circumstances and possibilities.
