World of Warcraft will officially mark its 20th anniversary on 24 November 2024, and Blizzard Entertainment has announced a series of in-game events to celebrate two decades of adventure in Azeroth. Beginning on 23 October 2024 with the release of content update 11.0.5, players will be able to take part in a variety of activities and earn exclusive rewards.
The update invites players to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris for a special in-game celebration. Among the key events is the introduction of a new raid, updated dungeons, and the return of iconic world bosses. The anniversary event also brings new mounts, pets, and revamped versions of classic transmog sets.
One of the major additions is the revamped Blackrock Depths dungeon, now turned into a 10-15 player, 8-boss raid available in LFR, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. In addition, several classic dungeons, such as Deadmines and Dire Maul, will enter the Timewalking rotation. Players can also expect updated encounters with familiar world bosses, including Sha of Anger from Mists of Pandaria and Archavon the Stonewatcher from Wrath of the Lich King.
Another addition is the chance to earn new legendary rewards. Players will be able to collect Bronze Celebration Tokens, which can be exchanged for special mounts, pets, and transmog sets. Modernised versions of the iconic Tier 2 armour sets will also be available, with newly designed versions for classes that were not present in the classic WoW era.
Alongside the anniversary celebrations, update 11.0.5 will introduce additional content, including class balance updates, new quests, and the expansion of the Dracthyr race into six new combat classes, such as rogue, mage, and priest.
