2K and Firaxis Games have announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be released on 11 February 2025. This latest instalment in the long-running strategy game franchise will be available across a wide range of platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and on Mac and Linux via Steam. The game will support cross-play and cross-progression, and is now available for pre-order.
Details about the new game were unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, followed by a gameplay showcase. The reveal included the announcement that Gwendoline Christie, known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Star Wars, will serve as the game’s narrator. You can see her in action in the role a little further down, in the game’s live action trailer.
In Civilization VII, players’ strategic choices will influence the cultural development of their empires over time. Players will be able to rule as one of several historical leaders and can select a new civilization to guide their empire through each Age of human progress.
