Developer Inzanity together with publisher Kwalee have released a new update for their rogue-lite rhythm shooter, ROBOBEAT. This latest update introduces several gameplay enhancements, including a new melee weapon called the ‘Shield’ and a new utility item known as ‘The Boombox’. Information on the new content is below:
New Weapon: The Shield
The Shield is a new melee weapon designed to emphasise combo attacks rather than direct damage. While its normal hits deliver minimal damage with a short range, players can utilise three different parry-focused combos to transform defensive maneuvers into powerful offensive strikes.
New Utility: The Boombox
The Boombox utility item delivers high-impact damage within a short-range cone. Unlike The Nuke, the Boombox also deals area-of-effect (AOE) damage, making it effective for clearing groups of enemies. Players can strategically gather enemies, leap into the air, and unleash the Boombox to devastating effect.
Additional Update Features
Based on feedback from the player community, ROBOBEAT now includes an option to reroll Data Chips. This feature allows players to reroll the Data Chips they are offered, granting more control over their loadout during each run.
In ROBOBEAT, players assume the role of Ace, a renowned bounty hunter pursuing the eccentric robot showman, Frazzer. The game challenges players to navigate Frazzer’s complex techno-playground by mastering a combination of shooting, wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping, all synced to a musical beat. Players can personalise their experience by using ROBOBEAT‘s custom music feature, which supports .wav, .mp3, and .ogg files. Users can upload and trim their tracks or use the in-game editor to generate beats that align with their play style. Switching between custom songs in-game is seamless, allowing players to adjust the music without interruption.
ROBOBEAT is currently featured in the Steam Rhythm Fest and is being offered at a 20% discount until 26 August 2024. It is available exclusively for the PC.
