Developed by NetEase Games, it was confirmed during the recent PlayStation State of Play livestream that the 6v6 Super Hero team-based PvP shooter Marvel Rivals will be coming to the PlayStation 5 in the future. This announcement was also complemented by new trailer, character confirmations, and word that a closed beta test soon to be going live.

Unique Super Powers and Abilities
In Marvel Rivals, characters possess unique super powers rather than generic abilities. Players can use Magneto’s Metal Bulwark to protect teammates from projectiles, summon forces of Nastrond with Hela, tap into Venom’s symbiote powers, or use Adam Warlock’s quantum magic to bond with and resurrect teammates. Flying heroes like Iron Man and Storm can also use aerial combat techniques to suppress enemies.
Heroes are categorized into three roles: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. This allows players to choose their preferred role and hero, creating versatile and dynamic team lineups for battles.
Team-Up Abilities
Marvel Rivals introduces Team-Up Abilities, where characters can combine powers in unique ways. For example, Magneto can use Scarlet Witch’s chaos magic, Hulk can enhance Iron Man’s Nano Armor with gamma energy, and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders while firing at enemies. These abilities bring iconic Marvel elements to life on the battlefield, enriching combat strategy.
Game Modes and Maps
Players can experience familiar worlds reimagined in Marvel Rivals. Adventures include vying for control of Jarnbjorn in Asgard, protecting a young Spider-Hero in Tokyo 2099, and upholding the Great Web. Each location offers unique challenges and opportunities for players to carve their sagas across the Marvel Multiverse.
Environmental Destruction
The game features environmental destruction, allowing players to tear down walls, destroy building foundations, and cause general havoc. For instance, Hulk can destroy a bridge and Storm can obliterate buildings with her atmokinesis. This feature adds a new layer of strategy to the gameplay.
PlayStation-Exclusive Content
On release day, PlayStation 5 players will have access to an exclusive ‘Scarlet Spider’ costume. At the moment this bonus is just a costume – nothing more.
Beta Testing Confirmation
