Proving to be well worth the 13 year wait, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake II proved to be a 10/10 horror game which combined the harrowing light-based combat and environments with memorable storytelling which blended the natural, supernatural and quirky into one enjoyable experience. When the game was released in October 2023, there was the promise of two expansion chapters available exclusively via the game’s Deluxe Edition – ‘Night Springs’ and ‘The Lake House’. While the second is still to come, ‘Night Springs’ is now available to download for all Alan Wake II Deluxe Edition owners on the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Based on the oft referenced ‘Night Springs’ series within Alan Wake and Alan Wake II, this expansion brings together three bite-sized chapters, taking no more than an hour each to complete, based on a different episode of the fictional television show and a different character from the Remedy Connected Universe – ‘The Waitress’ Rose Marigold from Alan Wake I/II, ‘The Sibling’ Jesse Faden from Control, and ‘The Actor’ Shawn Ashmore, the actual IRL actor behind Tim Breaker from Alan Wake II.
Each are self-contained, non-canonical, stories separate from the main story, all narrated by Warlin Door (Mr. Door), and to some extent feature existing assets which have been rejigged and themed to suit the titular setting of Night Springs.
