New content is now available as part of a free update for Spike Chunsoft’s recently released, Nintendo Switch exclusive, Roguelike RPG Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. New features of this update include:
1. Challenging New Sacred Tree Dungeons
Spike Chunsoft, Inc. has introduced new Sacred Tree Dungeons to Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island for the Nintendo Switch. Located in Shukuba Beach, these dungeons offer various challenging modes including Normal Trial, Time Trial, Turn Trial, Countdown Trial, and Challenge Trial, each with unique rules to enhance the gameplay experience. Additionally, there is a mysterious sixth mode… for those who manage to unlock it.
2. Play using “Kokatsu Shiren”
Players can now choose the Kokatsu Shiren form as a playable character in the Sacred Tree trials. This form, which combines Kokatsu and Shiren, offers unique abilities such as special attacks that do not require equipping items and are powered by the Fullness meter. This option becomes available after players have completed the Cavern of Suiryu dungeon.
3. Dojo Challenge Mode
A new Dojo Challenge Mode has been added, accessible at the Monster Dojo. This mode allows players to engage in mini-stages that are designed to help them learn and understand the characteristics of each monster. The mode becomes available after clearing Serpentcoil Island in the main story and unlocking the Monster Dojo.
4. Expanded Storehouse
The capacity of the Item Holder Storehouse has been significantly increased, expanding from 180 items to 960 items. This enhancement allows players to store a greater array of items and weapons found during their dungeon explorations.
5. Balance Adjustments and Other Improvements Added
The update also includes various balance adjustments and improvements to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
Spike Chunsoft has confirmed that a second content update is in the works, set for release next season, offering “even more new content and functional improvements”. Watch this space.
