Final Fantasy XVI’s Story Complete With Release of Final DLC – The Rising Ride

After its release last year, the narrative of RPG Final Fantasy XVI should now be considered complete, with developer and publisher Square Enix releasing their final DLC for the game – Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide. This chapter follows on from the offerings of the first DLC release for the game, titled Echoes of the Fallen, with both chapters now available either separately or as part of the game’s ‘Expansion Pass’.

Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide offers players an all new story, battle opportunities, sidequests, weapons, accessories, level cap increase and more, all set in the newly introduced hidden lands of Mysidia. Players are set to gain new Eikonic abilities and dive into battle against the legendary water Eikon, Leviathan the Lost. The new DLC also adds brand new end-game content with the Kairos Gate, where players will challenge 20 stages of intense scored and ranked battles against waves of enemies.

Additionally, this DLC release coincides with the release of the free Update 1.31 for all players.

Players who download the update will be able to enjoy many quality-of-life improvements for the game, including:

  • Return to a quest giver immediately with the new “Quick Complete” function
  • Icon updates for important character quests
  • A new Skill Set feature which allows players to save up to 5 unique Feat and Ability sets
  • Abilities and Accessories adjusted to make easier to use
  • New “Custom” controller type allows for freely customizable button layouts
  • Tone correction, screen effects, and more added to Photo Mode
  • Numerous new orchestrion rolls added
