Ubisoft has officially launched Skull and Bones, a new title promising an immersive piratical adventure, across a range of platforms including Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Ubisoft Store, GeForce Now, and the Epic Games Store. The game, which invites players to navigate the treacherous waters of the Indian Ocean during the second Golden Age of Piracy, is now accessible for enthusiasts seeking a blend of exploration, combat, and strategy. Ubisoft has also introduced a Free Trial from 16 February, offering up to 8 hours of unrestricted gameplay, allowing players to sample the seas before embarking on hopefully even grander adventures.
In Skull and Bones, players embark on a journey starting with nothing but their wits and a desire to climb the ranks of infamy. Through naval combat, treasure hunting, and plundering, players can increase their infamy, unlock blueprints for crafting superior ships, weapons, and other equipment. This progression system encourages exploration and combat, as players gather resources and navigate through an open world teeming with challenges and opportunities. The game’s setting, inspired by the tumultuous era of piracy in the Indian Ocean, provides a backdrop of chaos and competition as players face off against mega-corporations, pirate hunters, and rival factions, either solo or in groups of up to three.
The Free Trial on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC offers a generous glimpse into the Skull and Bones experience, with eight hours of gameplay that includes epic voyages, intense naval battles, and exploration of the game’s vast open seas. This trial period is designed to give players a comprehensive taste of the pirate life, with all progress and unlocked items seamlessly carrying over upon purchasing the full game.
Skull and Bones’ soundtrack features music by Tom Holkenborg, and sea shanties performed by the Busking Barnacles, seeking to enhance your nautical journey with authentic musical depth. Want to listen to the music standalone? The soundtrack is available across streaming platforms.
Following several days, Skull and Bones serves as the first new IP and major game title developed by Ubisoft’s Singapore studio, who in recent years has provided development support on a number of games, most frequently the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
