Elite Royal Agent Alisa – hot on the heels of a notorious thief in a fantastical world somewhat reminiscent of the 1920s – finds herself suddenly whisked away to an old, bizarre, Victorian-style mansion. Haunted by the by the mansion’s strange, mechanized doll-like inhabitants and trapped in a world upside-down, Alisa has only one priority: survive and escape. But can she do this with her humanity intact?
Top Hat Studios, Inc., in collaboration with developer Casper Croes, has officially announced the impending global release of Alisa: Director’s Cut, a survival horror game paying homage to the 1990s era. Scheduled for release on 6 February 2024, Alisa will be accessible to players on various platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Alisa is designed to evoke nostalgia, replicating the style of PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64 gaming experiences. The game features pre-rendered backgrounds, a resolution of 480p, and the possibility of rendering in 240p is being explored. It also includes fixed camera angles, reminiscent of the classic survival horror games. Players are given the choice between classic tank controls and modern control styles, catering to both traditionalists and those who prefer slightly more contemporary gameplay mechanics.
Alisa was originally developed in Unity 5 on the PC, a very outdated version of the popular engine. The porting process required the implementation of several engine and technological innovations to ensure compatibility with modern console systems. The game maintains its original integrity across all platforms, with this Developer’s Cut includes all updates and new content added to the PC version, along with numerous fixes and quality of life optimizations.
