Following anticipation, leaks, and enough rumours to keep the rumour-mill spinning for the last couple of years, Rockstar Games has today officially announced that Grand Theft Auto VI is officially in development, and is slated to be released sometime in 2015. This chapter is confirmed to be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S gaming platforms, although it would be a surprise if a PC release wasn’t in the works to release simultaneously with or shortly after the console releases.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, home of the iconic Vice City, but going well beyond its neon-soaked streets. According to RockStar Games, it is set to represent “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet”.
The game aims to push the boundaries of storytelling and world-building in interactive entertainment, as stated by Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games:
At the moment, all we have is the above trailer to tide us over, but expect to hear more about GTA VI in the coming weeks, months and year.
