Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.6: Crown of the Mundane and Divine Announced for Late-December Release

You know that period between Christmas and New Years where most people are winding down for the year or maybe enjoying some well deserved leave from work? Well, HoYoverse has confirmed they will be using this time to push out the next update for Honkai: Star Rail, announcing a 27 December 2023 release date for Version 1.6: Crown of the Mundane and Divine. Players can look forward to new simulated universe events (and other events), new recruitable characters, a new area to explore, story events and more. Plus if you have been waiting for the opportunity to recruit “Mommy” Kafka after her first banner much earlier in the year, now will be your chance.

The storyline in Version 1.6 follows the Trailblazer’s return to the Herta Space Station after resolving the Paranormal crisis in Fyxestroll Garden. Here, players encounter Madam Ruan Mei and are drawn into the aftermath of her clone cultivation experiment, leading to the emergence of a Swarm King prototype and a dangerous Swarm Disaster entity. Players will face these challenges in the Seclusion Zone’s newly formed “Borehole Planet’s Old Crater”.

Furthermore, this update introduces a new update to Simulated Universe: Gold and Gears, showcasing Ruan Mei’s creation of a simulated Nous and a frozen space-time narrative around the demise of Emperor Rubert, member 27. This update introduces the Path of Erudition, experimenting with a unique gameplay mechanic of separating dice from paths and providing six slots on the dice for various Dice Face effects. Players can unlock additional Dice Face effects by collecting Trailblaze Secrets, enhancing their gameplay experience.

With regard to events, Version 1.6 also includes the Critter Pick Scavenging event, where players nurture and cultivate new lifeforms. The update promises a number of gameplay improvements, including the addition of Pure Fiction, new stages in the Forgotten Hall, and various user-friendly updates.

The new characters joining the player’s roster are designed to enhance the gaming experience. Madam Ruan Mei, a 5-star Ice-Type character, is an expert in biological science and a significant contributor to the Simulated Universe. Her skill, Strings Sing in Slow Twirls, boosts allies’ damage and Weakness Break efficiency.

Dr. Ratio, a new 5-star Imaginary-Type character from the Intelligentsia Guild, excels in combat with a unique ability to launch follow-up attacks based on the number of debuffs on an enemy. Oh, and once Version 1.6’s ‘Panta Rhei’ event warp commences, every trailblazer who has unlocked the mail feature shall receive one limited five-star character Dr. Ratio. Yup, a free 5-star… let’s hope they don’t become akin to the guest 5-star character Aloy in Genshin Impact.

Lastly, Xueyi, a 4-star Quantum-Type character, brings a puppet system to the battlefield, with her Ultimate, Divine Castigation, dealing significant Quantum DMG and depleting enemy Toughness.
