Giving players a sample of the remake of Star Ocean: The Second Story, Square Enix has released a playable demo of Star Ocean: The Second Story R onto the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop digital distribution platforms. This demo delivers the introductory snippet of the game, allowing players to experience the opening hours of the game, with save progress transferrable from the demo to final release upon the RPG’s release on 2 November 2023. Additionally, cross-generational saving will also allow PlayStation 4 players to continue playing on the PlayStation 5 with the same save.
To be specific, this demo grants players access to three cities, two dungeons and two bosses and give players an in-depth look into the opening hours of the gameas players choose their protagonist, battle with three party members and experience newly introduced features including ‘Assault Action’ and ‘Break’.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a remake of the 1998 RPG Star Ocean: The Second Story, developed by tri-Ace and published for the PlayStation 1. This edition will combine 3D environments and 2D pixel characters, aiming to offer a hybrid of classic RPG and modern gameplay experiences. New to this version is a rearranged soundtrack, difficulty settings, numerous quality-of-life improvements and more. The RPG will be available on 2 November 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC.
