HoYoverse has shared more information on and the official release date for their next Honkai: Star Rail major update, titled Version 1.4: Jolted Awake From a Winter Dream. Scheduled to release on 11 October 2023, players can look forward to new areas, brand new characters to recruit to your party, the new Aetherium Wars video game and more.
Following the resolution of previous in-game crises, players will have the opportunity to explore the Old Weapons Testing Ground and Pillars of Creation in Jarilo-VI for the first time. These areas promise pivotal story developments and new gameplay dynamics. Topaz, from the Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC)’s Strategic Investment Department, is on a mission to Jarilo-VI. The task? To address pressing intergalactic business agendas and to dive deep into the mysteries surrounding the frozen plant and its connection to the IPC. Just as the character will be recruitable for the first time, you will join them on this mission into the new areas of the planet.
The new Aetherium Wars game is scheduled to be release. In this game. players must employ Aether Spirits, virtual versions of creatures, to construct and train combat companions. To gain a foothold in the Jarilo-VI Tournament, gamers should amass these spirits within Victory Zones dotted across various areas. As the game progresses, players will encounter formidable “Overlord Aether Spirits”, essential for enhancing combat capabilities. The stakes rise with the increasing intensity of the battles.
Version 1.4 will also introduce Jingliu, a famed Xianzhou legend. Once known as the mightiest sword master on the Luofu and a member of the elite High-Cloud Quintet, her past shrouds in mystery and intrigue. Jingliu’s combat style in the game is versatile, moving seamlessly between her standard form and her formidable “Spectral Transmigration” state. In both these modes, she is an indomitable force to reckon with. Jingliu is due to be a 5-star ice character aligned with ‘The Destruction’ path, and will be voiced by AmaLee in English.
Joining the character ensemble are Topaz and her reliable companion, Numby. While Topaz shines as a rising star in the IPC, Numby excels in sniffing out wealth, aiding in security checks, debt settlements, and complex calculations. Both characters, defined as Fire-Type, will play a significant role in exploring the universe aboard the Astral Express. Players can anticipate witnessing and exploiting special effects during their interactions. The pair will be a single 4-star fire element unit of The Hunt path, and voiced by Sam Slade in English.
The update will see the introduction of Guinaifen, a street performer deeply engrossed in the Xianzhou culture. She uses firecrackers in battle, a nod to ancient Xianzhou myths where these were employed to ward off menacing creatures. Guinaifen’s deep respect for the Xianzhou’s traditions has earned her the support of its inhabitants. Like Topaz + Numby, Guinaifen will also be a 4-star fire element character of The Nihility path, voiced by Morgan Lauré in English As for the second 5-star of the update, it will be a re-run of Seele.
In addition to all the new content, 11 October will also see the official release on the Honkai: Star Rail PlayStation 5 client, featuring Cross-Save and Cross-PLay functionality with the PC, iOS and Android versions of the game.
