The final DLC for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is imminent, and will see the universes of not only Super Mario Bros. and Rabbids collide, but also the world of Rayman (which Rabbids was initially a spin-off of). Titled Rayman in the Phantom Show, this DLC is slated to be available on 30 August 2023. In this latest adventure, Rayman will collaborate with Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach, and they will reunite with their former adversary, the Phantom.
The DLC seeks to offer players a fresh narrative that is independent of the main game’s storyline. Players will take on the roles of Rayman, Rabbid Peach, and Rabbid Mario as they explore the unusual setting of the Space Opera Network, a TV studio filled with intriguing props and hidden surprises. The Phantom, who was previously an antagonist in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, reappears in this DLC as a dastardly studio director. Facing a ratings slump, the Phantom requires the assistance of these game characters to revive the studio’s popularity.
One point of note is the new vertical levels, setting out to introduce the players to a variety of TV studio sets. With the help of Rayman’s haircopter ability, players can leap to higher levels, bringing Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario along. Combat scenarios in the game are also pitched numerous tactical possibilities, with Rayman’s arsenal of abilities at players’ disposal, ranging from his plunger blaster to his airborne traversal capabilities.
David Gasman is set to return as the voice of Rayman, having last voiced the character as part of 2003’s Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc on the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox and PC. In addition, Christophe Heral will collaborate with Grant Kirkhope to create the DLC’s original soundtrack.
