SEGA Share New Trailer and Release Date for Sonic Superstars

Having a presence during Gamescom’s Opening Night Light, SEGA debuted a new trailer for the newest game based on their company’s mascot character – Sonic the Hedgehog. It was confirmed that Sonic Superstars will be launching on 17 October 2023 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch gaming platforms. Here in Australia, the title will be priced at $99.99 AUD, although this price will vary from region to region, and perhaps store to store.

In addition to the release date announcement, a new trailer was shared. This video sets out to provide a fresh look at Sonic’s newest adventure, particularly the local co-op and Battle Modes, which will allow you to play the entire game with up to three other players drop-in-drop-out style, or against seven other players online or three other players locally in the new Battle Mode.

In Sonic Superstars, players will adventure through the mystical Northstar Islands classic-Sonic style. Play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose and harness all-new Emerald Powers to move and attack in dynamic new ways. Navigate gorgeous, never-before-seen environments solo or with up to three other players and stop Dr. Eggman, Fang and a mysterious new adversary from converting the islands’ giant animals into Badniks before it’s too late!

Promoted features of the game include:

A New Spin on a Classic
The 2D Sonic high-speed sidescrolling action platforming you know and love, reimagined with fully 3D graphics, new powers and abilities, an all-new setting, and new ways to play! You’ve never played classic Sonic like this before!

Choose from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose and take advantage of their unique abilities to blaze a path across the Northstar Islands as they race to defeat Dr. Eggman, who has teamed up with an old nemesis, Fang.
