As one of their first major releases for 2024, Bandai Namco Entertainment today announced that TEKKEN 8, the next flagship instalment in their fighting franchise, will be launching on the PC and the most recent generation PlayStation and Xbox platforms from 26 January 2024. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, TEKKEN 8 aims to “harness the power of current hardware to make it the most visually stunning game in the series yet”, and also strives to deliver “a new approach to playing fighting games, with a new aggressive combat system that rewards offense-first tactics”.
This announcement is complemented by a new trailer for the game, coming in at just under 3 minutes in length. The reveal showcases the Arcade Quest, a newly introduced mode in TEKKEN 8‘s single-player offerings, serving as a training ground. In this mode, players can create and customize their own avatar and “visit” different arcades to participate in matches designed to improve their play and teach new techniques. As players progress through the story, they will continue to develop and grow stronger along with their avatar and hone their skills against tougher and tougher opponents in a story not too different of how some real players got into esports.
Following a series of announcements over previous months, this trailer also confirms an number of familiar faces joining the 32-character roster, including Kuma, Leo, Shaheen, Steve, Dragunov, and Yoshimitsu showcasing their updated looks and moves. Bandai Namco also confirmed the level of customisability with these characters, including the possibility of changing each parts colours as well as the size and position of accessories
TEKKEN 8 is in development for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, for release on 26 January 2024.
