Following its Nintendo Switch release back in December 2022, Square Enix has ported Dragon Quest Treasures across to the PC via Steam. A prequel of sorts to DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, this follows the early exploits of siblings Erik and Mia, with a different playstyle to the mainstream title it is based on. The PC variant of the game boasts upgrades in terms of graphical fidelity and framerate and has received official verification for the Steam Deck.
In Dragon Quest Treasures, players step into the shoes of Erik and Mia as they navigate the enigmatic world of Draconia. They are accompanied by two adorable creatures, Purrsula and Porcus. Along their journey, they can also recruit a team of monster allies, who can be used to find hidden treasures and gain access to otherwise unreachable areas. The adventure is not without danger, as the siblings have to fend off rival gangs and monstrous foes until they can get back to their base and have their found treasures appraised. The accumulation of these treasures raises the vault value, thereby enabling the expansion of their home base and recruitment of more friendly monsters.
Special in-game items will be offered to those who purchase the Steam version of Dragon Quest Treasures from the launch date up until 28 July 2023. The items include the Chimaera Wing, which allows instant return to base without any treasure loss, the Better Buddy Bullet to increase the chances of a monster joining the player’s team, and the Fullheal Pellet to fully restore the HP of an ally. Additionally, a Digital Deluxe Edition is also available to purchase, which includes the complete game, three monster allies (Great Sabrecat, Ruby Golem, and Icy Dragling), as well as additional quantities of Bestest Buddy Bullets and Omniheal Bombs.
