Ghostwire: Tokyo Receives Xbox Release, New ‘Spider’s Thread’ Update

Following a year-long period of PlayStation console exclusivity, players on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass can now play Tango Gameworks’ Ghostwire: Tokyo, in addition to the newly released Spider’s Thread update. The Xbox version includes all previous updates made to the PlayStation version in addition to the Spider’s Thread Update, making it the most comprehensive edition out-of-the-box.

The Spider’s Web update is available on all platforms, including PlayStation 5 and PC, and introduces a new game mode, expanded locations, extended story cutscenes, and additional combat options. The new game mode, ‘The Spider’s Thread,’ challenges players to complete a 30-stage gauntlet assembled from over 130 handcrafted levels. Players must clear challenges to earn upgrades and become stronger, but if defeated, they must restart with only a portion of their upgrades retained.

The update also expands the main story with new locations like the Middle School area and extended cutscenes. A new “Reduced Horror Effects” setting is available for those who don’t like spooky games, replacing certain psychic effects with cute SHIIBUYA HACHI stickers for players who prefer less spooky gameplay.

New combat skills and talismans are introduced in the Spider’s Thread Update, including Counter-Attack, Quick Dodging, and Charge Rush, as well as Tengu Wind and Spiritual Fountain talismans. These enhancements should hopefully prove useful when battling new Visitor enemies, including Retribution, Silent Gaze, and Sanguine Dancer. This is all in addition to a range of other alterations, the introduction of an improved photo mode and more.
