While Rabbids were introduced in a spin-off Rayman game for the Nintendo Wii, the tides have since turned, with the kooky rabbits getting a franchise of their own while gamers have been left waiting decades and multiple console generations for Rayman 4. While we are no closer to seeing the 3D platformer, we will see Rayman and Rabbid unite once more in the downloadable content for upcoming turn-based tactical RPG Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
In this additional content, to be purchasable as part of either a season pass or individual purchase, Rayman will become a new playable character in the expansion content – joining forces with Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario in a new quest. Information is limited on what this content will entail, but expect to hear more in the coming weeks and months, especially following the main game’s Nintendo Switch exclusive release on 20 October 2022.
In addition to this announcement, Ubisoft shared the above trailer for the main Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope experience. In this video, Mario and his friends are depicted as tasked to save the planet Terra Flora from cosmic villain Cursa. They will have to defeat enemies and face the Wiggler, enraged and infected by Cursa’s dark influence.
Developed by Ubisoft’s Paris and Milan studios and featuring both Ubisoft and Nintendo intellectual properties, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch starting 20 October 2022.
